WHAT PLAINTIFF COUNSEL SHOULD KNOW

• Evaluate early! Seize this one-time opportunity for your client to consider a structured settlement along with other settlement options; don’t leave these discussions until the last minute. Consult with a structure broker early in your case.
  
  
• Clients may have their own investment advisors! Stockbrokers, financial planners and investment advisors generally do not understand structured settlements, or the periodic payment options available to your client. These advisors may not understand structures, or may not consider how to integrate a structure into an effective financial program for your client. Secure your own structure broker who can work with these other advisors, to the benefit of your client.
  
  
• Insurers may require a plaintiff to use a Defence Consultant. Get your own structure consultant! A settlement involves some compromise. Do not subject your client to any further compromise. Rely on your own due diligence.
